02. Nora En Pure: Come With Me
One of this year's best deep house tracks comes from Swiss Nora En Pura who is one of guys in the prog/tech group Helvetic Nerds. To me this track just oozees summer and I can't wait to play it at some of this summer's open air housey nights.
03. Vibrasphere: Purple (Peter Gun & DJ Slater remix)
It's really sad that progressive psytrance act Vibrasphere doesn't exist anymore as an active group, but it's nice to have some remixes feeding us with their magic melodies. This deep prog version of 'Purple' sits nicely between psytrance and deep prog. I played this recently when opening for John 00 Fleming here in Helsinki and it worked really well.
04. Above & Beyond: Walter White
I was pleasently surpised when heard Walter White for the first time. The breakdown is classic Anjuna at it's best, full on part after that reminds me of my raver years while the basic (super simple) groove is very much the sound of now. To me it sounds like A&B are balancing quite nicely with having some of their signature sound yet doing something fresh. This will be played a lot in the big rooms during coming months and worked really well last weekend when I played this at Super8 & Tab's Empire night here in Helsinki.
05. Pryda: Power Drive
The swedish magic man does it once again! Eric Prydz seems to always nail wether it's under the name of Eric Prydz, Pryda or Cirez D. I wanted to play this already last month but for that deeper mix it was too full on. Also one of my current big room faves and suits nicely many kind of gigs from techno to trance and from small clubs to big arenas. Pity that Eric moved to US so chances of hearing him in Finland are even slimmer than before...
06. Super8 & Tab: L.A. (BT Remix)
Helsinki meets LA! American legend BT does his debut on Anjuna with a very nice remix for Super8 & Tab. The groove might be quite standard 2013 bassline action but it's the break and the details where BT's skills shine through. There is something very new and something very old school in this mix. Especially the rave vibey arpeggios in the breakdown tickle my 90s raver senses I like it!
07. Armin van Buuren: Last Stop Before Heaven
WOW! Armin van Buuren brings us one of the best Pure Trance tracks of 2013!! 10/10 from me, top track from his Intense album and great to see him showing the more underground side of trance to his more mainstream audience. This is the early 2000 deep & driving progressive trance sound perfectly brought to 2013. Can't wait to play this at the Pure Trance Helsinki event on June 8th where me and Solarstone will play a special 6h back2back set together for the first time.
08. Quincy Weigert: Raspberry Avenue (Paul Trainer Remix)
My favorite pick from Protoculture's recent mix CD. This is one of those tracks which perhaps isn't breaking any new boundaries but does it's own thing very well. Or maybe I'm liking it because it reminds me so much about Midtone's classic Pearl?
09. Vangelis: Bladerunner (Solarstone Pure Mix)
When touching Vangelis' work you better have something good to offer and something that does justice to the original master's creations... And Solarstone has done one of his best remixes ever with this one. A perfect example of how little can be so much when you have a great composition. Pulsating arpeggios carry the track through from beginning to the end crescendo. One of my last tracks in this year's massive Whiteout event here in Helsinki. Trance doesn't get much more epic than this.
10. Commander Tom: Are Am Eye (John Askew remix)
I haven't played many John Askew tracks either in Radio Unity for a long long time, but his remix of the hard dance classic Are Am Eye is IMHO superb and perfect big rave material. One of the best tracks spotted from ASOT600 and sounding very fresh even after all these years. I don't want to be sentimental, but the rave tracks of 1995 managed to be epic, energetic, banging, edgy yet cool and hypnotic at the same time. More tracks like this please!
